A Southern California homeowner experienced a startling surprise when a hot air balloon carrying 13 individuals executed an emergency landing directly in his backyard. The incident occurred on Saturday in Temecula, where the enormous vessel descended with precision onto a narrow strip of grass at a residential property.
Homeowner's Astonishment and Pilot's Expertise
Hunter Perrin, the resident, recounted his disbelief to local media, explaining he was unaware of the unexpected visitors until a neighbor alerted him. "I open the sliding glass door, and there’s a basket full of 13 people in my backyard!" Perrin exclaimed. He lauded the pilot's abilities, stating, "The pilot, he was masterful. The balloon didn’t catch on anything. No one was injured."
Passenger Account and Anniversary Celebration Interrupted
Among the passengers was Brianna Avalos, who was celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary during the flight. She detailed how the pilot informed them of low fuel and weak winds, necessitating the unscheduled descent. "At first I was like, ‘Oh my God! We’re in a backyard! This is crazy!’" Avalos recalled, highlighting the sudden shift from celebration to emergency.
