Phil Foden signs new four-year Manchester City contract until 2030
Foden agrees new four-year Man City contract

Phil Foden has agreed a new four-year contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the club until the latter stages of his career. The midfielder, who turns 26 at the end of the month, has endured a difficult season and only started two Premier League games since mid-January.

Contract Details and Future

Foden faces an anxious wait to see if there is a place for him among Thomas Tuchel's England squad at the World Cup. The academy graduate's current contract was due to expire at the end of next season, and amid a reshuffle of his team, Foden instructed Rafaela Pimenta to conduct talks over fresh terms. Pimenta also represents City teammate Erling Haaland, as well as Liverpool manager Arne Slot. An agreement in principle has been reached for a deal until 2030, with the option of an additional year on top. Phil Foden has confirmed his future remains at Manchester City after signing a new four-year deal.

Form and Performance

The more pressing issue for Foden now is to recapture his form for City after a difficult six months. He had started the campaign well and burst into goalscoring form around November, appearing to have shaken off a dip in performances the previous season. But he has found himself out of Pep Guardiola's preferred starting XI since the Manchester derby defeat in January. Foden has 10 goals and five assists in 46 games so far this season. He is battling with Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, and Jude Bellingham for the No. 10 position with England.
