West Coast Eagles' Tyler Brockman Under Investigation After Geraldton Street Fight
AFL's Tyler Brockman investigated over Geraldton street fight

The West Coast Eagles have launched an internal investigation after one of their AFL players, Tyler Brockman, was allegedly involved in a violent street altercation in Western Australia over the weekend.

Alleged Fight Leaves Man with Broken Jaw

The incident is alleged to have occurred on Saturday night in Geraldton, a coastal city located roughly 400 kilometres north of Perth. Disturbing mobile phone footage, which has since circulated online, appears to capture the moment of the clash.

The grainy video seems to show three men engaged in a scuffle. A shirtless Tyler Brockman, 23, is allegedly seen running towards another man before knocking him to the pavement. In the background of the clip, a voice can be heard pleading, ‘Oi Tyler! Tyler! Stop it, no stop it, stop.’

Another individual is heard saying, ‘It’s not me. It’s not me, bro. What did I do?’ According to a report by The West Australian, one man involved was left with a broken jaw and required hospital treatment following the alleged fight.

Club Response and Brockman's Troubled Past

In an official statement, a spokesperson for the West Coast Eagles confirmed the club's awareness of the situation. ‘The Club is providing support to Tyler while working to gather all relevant information about the incident and is unable to make any further comment at this time,’ the statement read.

Representatives for Brockman have suggested to 7News that the footballer may have been acting in self-defence. This is not the first time the young forward has faced disciplinary issues. Earlier in the 2024 season, he was stood down by the club after pleading guilty to three driving offences, including careless driving and failing to stop after an accident.

That previous incident also occurred in Geraldton while Brockman was attending a family funeral. He was subsequently fined $1,400 by the courts.

A Career in the Balance After Promising Season

The father of two joined West Coast at the start of the 2024 season following three years with Hawthorn. Despite his off-field troubles, Brockman had been enjoying his best season on record, kicking a career-high 14 goals across 20 matches this year.

The club's investigation is now underway, and its findings could have significant consequences for Brockman's future with the Eagles. The AFL community awaits further developments as more information comes to light.
