Colin Farrell's F1 Grid Interview Sparks Movie Calls

Formula One fans were sent into a frenzy by Colin Farrell's hilarious grid walk interview, as they called for the star to appear in a movie about the races. The Irish actor, 49, was one of many big names who attended the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, and far from a fairweather fan, he nostalgically reflected on the first time he visited one of the famous tracks back in 1998.

Far from a lavish trip, Colin told Martin Brundle that his first F1 race was the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, which he travelled to on a budget Ryanair flight. The clip, which was reshared on TikTok, sparked a sea of comments from fans, who praised Colin for being a 'genuine fan' of the sport, and demanding he attend all of the races in the F1 calendar.

The race saw teenage rocket man Kimi Antonelli make more F1 history with a hat-trick of triumphs from pole, with world champion Lando Norris securing second place. As Martin completed his signature grid walk, he was greeted by an excited Colin, who joked the racing legend 'hadn't called him.'

Colin's Nostalgic Reflection

He shared: 'I do, the first race I went to was Monza in 98 on a package holiday, me and two lads in a dodgy hotel in the same room, flying Ryanair. That was the V10s back then and the Schumachers, both brothers came first and third, Eddie Irvine came second, so I've loved it since then I love this, it's mega to be here.'

Fans lauded Colin's grid interview, writing: 'Get Colin Farrell on the grid EVERY weekend, love that man;' 'Love an Irish celeb loving F1, if they do another F1 movie get Colin in, even just a cameo;' 'This is what I needed, celebs who have the interest;' 'Finally someone who cares about the sport; Where do we sign the petition to get Colin at every race?;' 'Great to see genuine passion for the sport and not these nonsense celebs; Brundle move over... F1 has a new man in town... love him;' 'The only celebrity there that actually knows F1.'

Other Celebrities and Race Highlights

The Irish actor was one of many big names who attended the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, alongside Terry Crews and Patrick Dempsey. 'Nice to see genuine passion and love for a sport instead of an all expenses PR appearance!'

After winning the Chinese and Japanese Grand Prix back-to-back, Antonelli has now become the third driver ever to earn his first three F1 wins in consecutive races, joining Damon Hill and Mika Hakkinen. But Norris, who'd won Saturday's sprint, felt McLaren had been outmanoeuvred, asking over the radio: 'How did we not win this? We should have won, guys.' Later he added: 'I'm gutted to miss out on the win. It was a mixed bag, really. We just got undercut (by Mercedes), we should have boxed first.'

Verstappen, who worked wonders to stay in control, dropped initially to 10th so had to be satisfied with his ultimate fifth spot. The race had been moved up by three hours to avoid thunderstorms, making for what Piastri called a 'very tricky' day as teams prepared for and tried to anticipate the bad weather that never came.
