Saudi matchmaker Turki Alalshikh has hinted that a long-awaited boxing match between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has been signed, by posting on X: "To my friends in Great Britain - it’s happening. It’s signed."
Long-Awaited Heavyweight Clash
The highly anticipated heavyweight clash has been discussed for years, with a previous agreement in 2021 failing to materialise, much to the disappointment of British boxing fans. Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, had previously stated that Joshua would likely compete against a different opponent this summer before a potential autumn showdown with Fury.
Warm-Up Bout Confirmed
Following Alalshikh's cryptic tweet, it was confirmed that Joshua will fight Kristian Prenga on 25 July in Riyadh, a bout widely interpreted as a warm-up for the Fury fight. Fury recently returned to the ring after his fifth retirement, securing a points victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov, and subsequently challenged Joshua, who was present ringside.
