Liverpool will hope to make Mohamed Salah proud when they face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, though the Egyptian star will miss the clash due to a muscle injury suffered in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. The 33-year-old has scored 13 Premier League goals against United since 2017, more than any other player, but his recovery will not be quick enough for one last appearance against the Red Devils.
Klopp's Opportunity to Fix Regret
Jurgen Klopp, now Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer, may have a chance to address his biggest regret from his Liverpool tenure: not giving Harvey Elliott enough playing time in his final season. In 2023-24, Elliott featured in 53 games but started only 11 league matches. Klopp admitted, "If I regret one thing a little bit, it's that Harvey didn't play often enough."
Liverpool are reportedly interested in RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, valued at £86 million, and could use Elliott as a makeweight in a deal. The Bundesliga side pursued Elliott last summer before he joined Aston Villa on loan.
Salah Demands Henderson Farewell
Mohamed Salah has urged Liverpool to give Jordan Henderson a proper send-off when Brentford visit Anfield on the final day of the season. Henderson, who spent 12 years at the club and captained the team to Premier League and Champions League glory, left abruptly for Al-Ettifaq in 2023 without a farewell.
Speaking to Steven Gerrard on TNT Sports, Salah said: "I really hope the fans give him a good send-off. Without him, we would not have achieved what we achieved." Henderson is expected to return to Anfield with Brentford on May 24.
Liverpool's clash with Manchester United promises high drama as Klopp seeks to right past wrongs and Salah's legacy continues to be celebrated.
