Racing expert Newsboy has pinpointed his standout bets for Monday's quartet of British meetings, with a strong fancy at Huntingdon leading the charge.
Huntingdon Nap Ready For Derby Rival
The focus for jumps fans is at Huntingdon, which stages a seven-race card. The highlight is the Download The PricedUp App Handicap Hurdle at 2.20, where Newsboy has selected ACROSS EARTH as his Nap of the day.
The Gary and Josh Moore-trained six-year-old faces a notable rival in Ambiente Friendly, the 2024 Derby runner-up who won over hurdles at this course a fortnight ago. However, Newsboy believes the upwardly mobile Across Earth can topple the favourite.
Across Earth has shown marked improvement this season. He returned to action with a victory at Hereford on November 11, followed by a third-place finish at Kempton. He then produced an emphatic performance at Sandown Park last time out, winning by four and a half lengths.
Although he must contend with a 6lb rise in the weights for that success, the analyst is confident the gelding is still on an upward curve and can secure another victory.
Musselburgh Next Best Heads Market
At Musselburgh, Newsboy's Next Best selection is BATHGATE in the 1.38 Livescore Bet Handicap Hurdle. The Phil Kirby-trained five-year-old is the rightful market leader after a stylish victory at Sedgefield 17 days ago.
He beat Toby Two Scoops by three and three quarters of a length that day and now races off a 6lb higher mark. Newsboy suggests this revised handicap may not be enough to stop jockey Joe Williamson and Bathgate from following up with another win.
