A motorcyclist and his passenger have died following a devastating collision involving three vehicles on a Kent road just days before Christmas.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The incident occurred at approximately 6.40pm on Saturday evening on the A228 Pembury Northern Bypass. The location was close to the junction for Old Church Road, near Pembury in Kent. The crash involved a black Triumph motorcycle carrying two people, a light-coloured Jaguar car, and a silver Ford van.
Both the motorcycle and the Jaguar were travelling in the direction of Tunbridge Wells, while the Ford van was heading the opposite way. Despite the swift attendance of emergency services, including police and ambulance crews, the two individuals on the motorcycle – a man and a woman, both in their 30s – were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Investigation and Road Closure
Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit has taken charge of the enquiry. Officers remained at the site throughout Sunday as their work continued. The force has confirmed that the next of kin of the deceased have been informed, although the names of the victims have not yet been publicly released.
The A228 was closed for a significant period to allow for a thorough investigation. Kent County Council's Highways department confirmed the road had fully reopened before 5pm on Sunday.
Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Investigators are now urgently appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly keen to obtain any dashcam or mobile phone footage that may have captured the vehicles involved in the moments leading up to the collision.
A spokesperson for Kent Police stated: 'Enquiries are being led by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit and officers are appealing for witnesses to contact them. Drivers are urged to check dashcam devices for any footage which may show the vehicles involved.'
