Punters looking for a midweek flutter have a trio of British race meetings to focus on this Tuesday, with all-weather action at Newcastle complemented by jumps cards at Wincanton and Catterick Bridge. Racing expert Newsboy has cast his eye over the cards and delivered his verdict, headlined by a confident nap selection aiming for a three-timer on the Tapeta surface.
Newcastle Nap Eyes Impressive Hat-Trick
The spotlight at Newcastle falls on the six-furlong handicap at 6.45, where Newsboy's best bet of the day, Teardrops, is set to run. The three-year-old gelding is in the form of his life, having posted career-best performances in his last two outings.
Trained by Richard Spencer, Teardrops scored over this course and distance just 11 days ago, defying a 6lb penalty. That victory came hot on the heels of another personal best at the same Gosforth Park track nine days prior. Despite being handed a further 3lb rise in the weights, Newsboy believes the son of Tasleet, with George Wood retaining the ride, has the talent and momentum to complete a quick-fire hat-trick.
Gatineau Park Tipped for Wincanton Success
Over at Wincanton, Newsboy's next best selection comes in the novices' hurdle at 1.30. Gatineau Park is fancied to follow up a recent maiden hurdle victory at Lingfield, achieved 28 days ago.
The five-year-old, who is co-trained by Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls, showed marked improvement from his hurdling debut at Ffos Las in October. He hit the front before the last flight at Lingfield and kept on strongly to win by half a length from Cinquenta, a rival who has since advertised the form with a solid run. Newsboy notes the horse appears a progressive type for a yard currently in excellent form.
