Newbury Nap Eyes Pertemps Path
At Newbury, the spotlight falls on the Wendigo Wins The Brown Advisory Handicap Hurdle (2.40). Newsboy's NAP selection, C'Est Different, is fancied to land his fourth consecutive victory. The progressive six-year-old gelding, trained by Sam Thomas, has thrived since stepping up in trip for handicaps.
He secured wins at Carlisle and Chepstow last season and returned 49 days ago with an emphatic eight-and-a-half-length triumph over Tranquil Sea at Market Rasen. Despite the assessor handing him a 12lb penalty for that success, Newsboy believes the horse can overcome it. A win here would bolster connections' plans for a Pertemps Final bid at the Cheltenham Festival.
Lingfield's Sprinting Phenomenon
The other star bet comes at Lingfield Park in the Make The Move To Midnite Handicap (2.30). The mare Gogo Yubari, trained by Tony Carroll, has been in spectacular form on the all-weather. She completed a remarkable hat-trick just last week, beating Sir Rodneyredblood by two and a quarter lengths.
