Rangers Close in on £12m Danish Star Skov Olsen in Major Loan Deal
Rangers near loan deal for Wolfsburg winger Andreas Skov Olsen

Glasgow Rangers are on the verge of securing a significant coup, with the club closing in on a loan deal for Wolfsburg and Denmark winger Andreas Skov Olsen.

Personal Terms Agreed for Danish International

Positive talks with the player's representatives have left Ibrox officials increasingly confident of completing the move. It is understood that personal terms are all but settled, with the 26-year-old forward keen on a switch to Scotland. Skov Olsen reportedly views the opportunity to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title as an ideal way to reignite his career at a crucial stage.

The left-footed attacker, who boasts 40 caps for his country and Champions League experience, would add considerable firepower to manager Danny Rohl's options. His potential arrival is seen internally as a potential blockbuster signing that could provide a major boost to the club's title ambitions this season.

Loan Fee and Future Option Key to Deal

Negotiations with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are ongoing, centring on the structure of the loan. Rangers are prepared to pay a seven-figure loan fee to secure Skov Olsen's services for the remainder of the campaign. The German club, which paid £12 million to sign him from Club Brugge just last year, is keen to protect its investment in a player contracted until 2029.

A critical element of the proposed agreement is an option for Rangers to make the transfer permanent in the summer. This would give the Scottish giants flexibility based on the player's performance and adaptation to Scottish football over the next few months.

Backup Plans and Other Business

With the club specifically aiming to strengthen the right side of their attack, they have identified alternative targets should the Skov Olsen deal encounter any late hurdles. Hungarian winger Damir Redzic, 22, of Dunajska Streda is a firm option on their radar. Valued at around £4 million, the versatile forward represents a potential fallback plan.

This potential signing follows other January business conducted by Rohl. The manager has already bolstered his squad with the £4 million acquisition of midfielder Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz. Furthermore, a £3 million move for Belgian left-back Tuur Rommens from Westerlo is also nearing completion.

In outgoing news, Oscar Cortes has seen his loan spell with Sporting Gijon cut short, but the Colombian winger has immediately been sent out on loan again, this time to Argentine club Huracan. Huracan will have an option to buy the player at the end of the loan agreement.
