Tottenham's £1bn Stadium Nightmare: Frank Under Fire After Fulham Defeat
Tottenham's Home Woes Deepen in £1bn Stadium Defeat

Thomas Frank is facing intense scrutiny after Tottenham Hotspur suffered a damning 1-2 home defeat to Fulham, a result that casts further doubt on his ability to turn their £1billion stadium into a fortress.

A Dismal Start Seals Tottenham's Fate

The match was effectively over within six disastrous minutes for the hosts. Fulham took the lead after just four minutes when a poor defensive header from Kevin Danso led to a chaotic sequence. Samuel Chukwueze's wayward pass evaded Lucas Bergvall, allowing Kenny Tete to strike. His effort then took a cruel deflection off Destiny Udogie, wrong-footing goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

The nightmare was compounded just two minutes later. A long punt from Joachim Andersen saw Vicario race off his line, but the Italian's attempted clearance was a calamity. Instead of clearing his lines, he was pressed by Raul Jimenez and miscued the ball directly to Josh King, who teed up Harry Wilson to slot a precise 40-yard finish into the empty net.

Spurs' Spiralled into Chaos and Boos

Marco Silva's Fulham, who had been without an away win all season, could not believe their luck as boos began to ring around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs' tactical setup, with Richarlison tucking inside and no recognised left-winger, was described as a "farcical mess" as the team struggled for any coherence.

Fulham continued to dominate, with Chukwueze hitting the post, and only a last-ditch tackle from stand-in captain Micky van de Ven prevented a third goal before half-time. Mohammed Kudus did spark a brief resurgence on 59 minutes with a venomous near-post half-volley, and Bergvall saw a header cleared off the line, but a comeback never truly materialised.

The Damning Aftermath for Thomas Frank

This result means Tottenham have won just three of their past 21 Premier League home matches, a shocking statistic for a club with such grand ambitions. They have also conceded first in six successive home league games for the first time since September 2003.

Under Frank, the Europa League champions look devoid of inspiration, having secured just three victories in their last 13 matches across all competitions. The team was rightly booed off by their own supporters after a third successive London derby defeat, their first such run since October 2021. The pressure on the Danish manager is now immense, with the club's £1billion state-of-the-art home feeling anything but a fortress.
