Apple has kicked off 2026 with a significant upgrade to its Apple Fitness+ subscription service, introducing a suite of new features designed to help users shed festive weight and stick to their New Year's resolutions.
Structured Programmes for Lasting Fitness Habits
The centrepiece of this update, announced on 2nd January 2026, is a new series of multi-week training plans. These structured programmes are crafted to build motivation and fitness gradually over time, moving beyond one-off workouts.
Apple has introduced three core plans focusing on popular exercise types. The "Back-to-Back Strength and HIIT" programme pairs these two intense formats in 20-minute sessions. For those seeking mindfulness and flexibility, the "Build a Yoga Habit in 4 Weeks" plan integrates yoga into a regular routine.
Perhaps the most accessible new option is the "Make your Fitness Comeback" plan. This four-week programme is tailored for anyone restarting their fitness journey. It schedules three 10-minute workouts per week, each focusing on a different discipline: Strength, HIIT, and Yoga. Each week's sessions build upon the last to ensure steady progress.
Celebrity Workouts and Fresh Music Content
Beyond the structured plans, Apple Fitness+ is enriching its library with new celebrity-led content and music-focused workouts.
The popular Time to Walk audio experience is adding new episodes featuring notable personalities. Subscribers can now walk along with Spice Girl Mel B, actor and producer Penn Badgley, and US actress Michelle Monaghan.
The Artist Spotlight series also makes a return, dedicating entire workout playlists to a single musical artist. The first of five new workouts in this series will feature the chart-topping music of Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter KAROL G.
Additional guest workouts are being provided by lifestyle and fitness creator Allie Bennett and dancers Luke and Paul Harwerth, offering fresh perspectives and routines.
Seamless Integration Across the Apple Ecosystem
All this new content remains accessible across the Apple device ecosystem. Users can stream workouts on their iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.
The experience is further enhanced by integration with Apple Watch and the latest AirPods Pro. These devices work in tandem with Fitness+ to provide real-time metrics, tracking heart rate and calculating calories burned during each session, creating a more immersive and data-driven workout.
The Apple Fitness+ service, which first launched in 2020, continues to be available for £9.99 per month or £79.99 for an annual subscription. This latest update represents a clear push by Apple to position the service as a comprehensive, habit-forming solution for the post-holiday fitness surge and beyond.
