Epic Games has officially confirmed one of Fortnite's most anticipated and outrageous collaborations to date. The iconic, irreverent world of South Park is finally coming to the battle royale island, bringing a wave of new cosmetics, gameplay tweaks, and a landmark change to squad sizes.
When Does The South Park Fortnite Event Start?
For players in the United Kingdom, the wait is almost over. The crossover event is scheduled to go live at 4PM Pacific Time on Thursday, January 9, 2025. This translates to a midnight launch on Friday, January 10, 2025 for UK gamers.
While the late start might test the patience of eager fans, it sets the stage for a full weekend of chaotic fun. The event is not a fleeting visit; players will have until February 5, 2026 to experience all the South Park-themed content before it potentially vanishes from the island.
All Confirmed South Park Skins & Cosmetics
The item shop is about to get a lot more colourful. Epic has revealed five core character skins, each modelled on the show's main quartet and one fan-favourite sidekick. In a unique twist, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman will all be available in special Mech Skin variants.
The confirmed lineup includes:
- Stan (Mech Skin)
- Kyle (Mech Skin)
- Kenny (Mech Skin)
- Cartman (Mech Skin)
- Butters as Professor Chaos
Each of these premium outfits is expected to cost 1,500 V-Bucks. They will be joined by the perpetually relaxed Towelie as a Back Bling or Sidekick item for 1,200 V-Bucks. As with most major collaborations, a discounted bundle containing multiple items is also anticipated, with prices rumoured to range between 3,200 and 3,800 V-Bucks.
Gameplay Changes and New Fortnite Features
This collaboration goes far deeper than just cosmetic additions. The map itself will undergo a temporary transformation, with the Wonkeeland Point of Interest (POI) being rebranded as 'Cartmanland' for the event's duration.
New items are also dropping in. A Cheesy Poofs consumable will provide a small health boost and a temporary speed increase. Furthermore, the legendary Stick of Truth, wielded by Butters in the announcement trailer, is set to appear as a powerful Mythic item. Early speculation suggests it may grant players the unprecedented ability to influence the storm's movement.
However, the most significant update for many long-term players is a fundamental change to team mechanics. For the first time in Fortnite's history, squad sizes will expand beyond four players. A new 'Quints' mode will allow up to five friends to queue together from the lobby.
It remains unclear if this five-player option will become a permanent fixture after the South Park event concludes in February 2026. Its future will likely depend on player reception and how the larger teams impact match balance. If popular, Epic Games may decide to keep the feature for good, forever changing the squad dynamic in Fortnite.
