Social media influencer Indy Clinton has ignited a fierce online debate after making a highly unconventional decision concerning her youngest child's birthday. The 28-year-old revealed on TikTok that she has opted to change the birthdate of her two-year-old daughter, Soul, because it falls uncomfortably close to Christmas.
The Controversial Announcement
In a recent video posted to the platform, Clinton told her audience that she and her husband, Ben Azar, had already made a final choice on the matter. Soul, who was born on December 18, will now have her birthday celebrated on December 12. The influencer began by stating she wasn't seeking opinions, merely informing her followers of the family's new plan.
"I was going to ask you guys for your opinion on something, but I've already made up my mind," Indy Clinton explained in the clip. "My third child...we've decided to change her birthday to the 12th of December." She justified the move by saying the original date was "too close to Christmas for my liking" and expressed confidence that her daughter would never need to know the official date had been altered.
Mixed Reactions from Followers
The announcement prompted an immediate and divided response in the comments section. Many followers were left baffled, with one asking, "Is this a joke?" and another suggesting it was "rage bait." Practical concerns were also raised, with one user warning: "Do not do this Indy. She’s gonna have to fill out official forms when she’s older and not know her freaking bday." Clinton remained unfazed, replying, "We will meet that crossroad when it comes."
However, the decision found support from some who shared their own experiences of December birthdays. "As someone born on the 22nd Dec, please PLEASE change it! These damn combined presents will be the death of me," one supporter commented. Another even claimed they planned to do the same: "I’m born on Christmas Day and it’s my first year with a child and I’m changing my DOB lol."
The Legal Reality and Family Life
Despite the family's personal choice, official channels indicate that changing a date of birth is not a simple process. According to NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages, a date of birth can only be formally altered if an error was made on the original registration. There is currently no provision for changing it based on personal preference.
Indy Clinton and Ben Azar are also parents to two other children: five-year-old Navy and three-year-old Bambi. The influencer concluded her video by insisting she could see no downside to the change, asking her audience, "Am I crazy? No, I don't actually think I'm crazy. I think it's really smart and nobody else has thought of it."
