Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced plans to launch its most substantial vessel to date, the Norwegian Aura, in 2027. This new flagship will surpass the size of its sister ships, marking a significant expansion for the cruise operator.
A New Class of Adventure at Sea
As the first in the enhanced Prima Plus class, the Norwegian Aura will introduce an unprecedented Ocean Heights adventure zone spanning four decks. This expansive area is designed to thrill passengers with its array of amenities, including five distinct waterslides, an extensive ropes course measuring 82 feet in length, and a challenging 25-foot rock climbing wall.
The ship will also boast the most spacious pool deck in the entire NCL fleet, offering over 20 per cent more space than previous designs. Furthermore, the popular Ocean Boulevard promenade will be enlarged by 11 per cent, providing more room for expanded activity zones suitable for guests of all ages.
Unprecedented Luxury in The Haven
For those seeking premium accommodation, the ship's exclusive The Haven By Norwegian luxury complex will be more opulent than ever. It will feature 30 per cent more suites than any other ship in the fleet, making it the largest Haven collection to date. These suites are being designed by the renowned Italian designer Piero Lissoni.
This private enclave will include a dedicated sundeck for Haven guests, crowned by a stunning panoramic infinity pool that offers breathtaking views of the ocean.
Maiden Voyage and Inaugural Season
The Norwegian Aura will officially enter service with a seven-day Mediterranean voyage. This inaugural cruise is scheduled to depart from Trieste, Italy, on 21 May 2027, concluding in Barcelona, Spain.
Following its European debut, the vessel will reposition to Miami, USA, where it will be based for its entire inaugural season starting from June 2027. This move positions the Aura as a major new offering for cruise enthusiasts departing from the key US port.
