In a landmark move for global tourism and entertainment, Saudi Arabia ushered in the New Year with the grand opening of its first Six Flags theme park. Six Flags Qiddiya City, a colossal $1 billion development, launched on 31 December 2025, marking the iconic brand's debut outside North America.
A New Entertainment Epicentre Near Riyadh
Nestled within an entertainment zone close to Riyadh's dramatic Tuwaiq Mountains, the park is the first operational component of the ambitious Qiddiya City project. This vast development is a cornerstone of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 plan, designed to diversify the economy and establish Saudi Arabia as a worldwide hub for play, sports, and culture.
The scale of the ambition is staggering. Alongside the flagship Six Flags park, Qiddiya City will eventually expand to include Aquarabia water park, a dedicated Dragon Ball theme park, and multiple motorsports venues, opening in phases. By the time the project is fully realised in 2030, officials estimate it will have created 85,000 jobs and contribute a projected SR 44 billion (£8.72bn) to the nation's GDP.
Six Worlds of Record-Breaking Thrills
Visitors to Six Flags Qiddiya City are greeted by six uniquely themed worlds, each offering its own narrative and experiences. Across these immersive zones, guests will find 28 rides and attractions, ten games, and 18 family-friendly experiences.
The crown jewel is undoubtedly Falcon's Flight, located in the 'City of Thrills' area. This behemoth now holds the title of the world's tallest, longest, and fastest roller coaster, soaring to a height of 195 metres and reaching blistering speeds of 155 mph (250 km/h).
But the records don't stop there. The park boasts five record-breaking rides in total. In 'The Grand Exposition', guests can brave Gyrospin, the world's tallest pendulum ride at 53 metres. Meanwhile, 'Steam Town' is home to Iron Rattler, the planet's largest tilt-coaster, which climbs to 63.4 metres and hits 118 km/h.
From Family Oases to Ancient Expeditions
For those seeking less intense adventures, the park caters comprehensively. 'Discovery Springs' provides a family-friendly aquatic oasis with wild water rides and relaxing beaches. 'Twilight Gardens' is an enchanting playground designed specifically for younger children.
The sixth world, 'Valley of Fortune', combines ancient mystery with modern excitement, inviting guests on rugged jeep expeditions and sky-high adventures.
Ticket prices are set at SAR 325 (£64) for visitors aged 12 and above, granting unlimited access to all rides and attractions. Infants under three enter free, while discounted tickets at SAR 75 (£14) are available for visitors with disabilities and accompanying nannies. A family bundle for five people is priced at SAR 1,200 (£237).
The opening of Six Flags Qiddiya City represents a transformative moment for Saudi leisure and international tourism, positioning the Kingdom firmly on the map as a premier destination for adrenaline-fuelled holidays and family entertainment.
