A former Metropolitan Police officer has been accused of defrauding luxury retailers out of thousands of pounds by falsely claiming she never received goods she purchased online, a court has heard. Sunna Harrison-Aziz, 28, allegedly pretended that a Dior bikini worth £700 did not arrive and is accused of using police computer systems to generate a letter to the brand.
Alleged Fraudulent Claims
The former officer is also alleged to have made a false representation to Currys by stating she had not received an Apple MacBook valued at £2,599. Additionally, she is accused of similar fraud against Cartier, claiming non-delivery of a £1,920 Mini Love wedding band, and against Moncler Spa for an £840 Abelle jacket.
Charges Filed
Harrison-Aziz faces four counts of fraud by false representation and one charge of perverting the course of justice. She is also charged with five counts of corrupt or improper exercise of police powers and privileges. The incidents are said to have occurred between January and September 2022, during which she allegedly accessed police files improperly.
Perverting Justice
The allegation of attempting to pervert the course of justice relates to her reportedly hiding her iPhone from police, claiming it was lost and broken, and then destroying the handset after a police search of her home had concluded.
Harrison-Aziz, from south London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where she only confirmed her name, date of birth, and address. The court heard she has indicated a not guilty plea to all ten charges. She appeared alongside co-defendant Edgar Morais, 30, from Croydon, south London, who is accused of encouraging her to corruptly or improperly exercise her police powers. The case has been sent to Southwark Crown Court, with a further hearing expected on June 2.
