Three individuals have been arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, following a harrowing discovery of nearly thirty deceased dogs and two dozen severely neglected animals at a residential property.
Grim Discovery Following Neighbour's Alert
The Lee County Sheriff's Office was called to a home in Atlanta after a concerned neighbour raised the alarm. Upon arrival, authorities made a deeply disturbing find. They discovered 29 dead dogs, each contained within individual plastic bags. Alongside this grim cache, they found 24 live dogs in a state of severe emaciation and neglect, requiring immediate intervention.
Suspects Face Over 100 Charges
The investigation led to the arrest of three suspects connected to the property. They have been identified as Curtis Dewayne Haralson, 63, Patricia Ann Sims, 54, and Tiffany Ann Sims, 27. Collectively, they face a staggering 111 charges related to the incident. The charges include eight counts of aggravated animal cruelty and 29 counts of failure to bury livestock, among others.
Each suspect was transported to the Lee County Jail and has been set a bond of $48,700. The arrests were made on Wednesday 14 January 2026.
Rescued Dogs Begin Recovery and Search for Homes
The 24 surviving dogs were swiftly removed from the property and taken into emergency care. They are now under the protection of the Animal Health Center of Opelika, where they are receiving necessary medical treatment and rehabilitation.
Officials have confirmed that the rescued animals, having been saved from a situation of extreme animal neglect, are now officially available for adoption. The centre is managing inquiries from members of the public interested in providing a permanent, loving home for the survivors of this tragic case of animal cruelty.
