A major road in Birmingham city centre has been cordoned off following a serious incident in which a man fell several floors within a building. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Colmore Row on Sunday evening after receiving reports of the fall.
Police Respond to Incident
West Midlands Police confirmed they were called to the incident earlier in the evening. Officers taped off the area near the pedestrianised zone close to Council House, where several police cars and three ambulances were stationed. Witnesses reported that emergency workers appeared to be using material to shield the scene from public view.
Victim Hospitalised with Serious Injuries
The man who fell was taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to a police statement. The force said: 'We’re currently in Colmore Row, Birmingham city centre, after a man is understood to have fallen a number of floors within a building. He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. We’re currently at the scene with emergency service colleagues as we seek to establish the full circumstances.'
