Brighton Predator Sentenced to 12 Years for Horrific Park Rape
Alieu George, a 46-year-old man with no fixed address, has been handed a 12-year prison sentence for the rape and sexual assault of a 35-year-old woman in Dorset Gardens, Brighton. The attack occurred after George lured the victim to the popular city centre park following a night out in June 2025.
Disturbing Details of the Assault
The court heard that George approached the woman after she had been out for drinks and made excuses to isolate her from her group. He then led her to Dorset Gardens, where he sexually assaulted her before committing rape. The incident was witnessed by members of the public at approximately 9:05 AM on Sunday, June 22, 2025, who reported seeing the woman in distress with George lying on top of her.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim distraught and George lying next to her. He falsely claimed she was his girlfriend. The woman later told authorities that George had repeatedly attempted to assault her while guiding her to the park.
Swift Police Response and Investigation
Sussex Police arrested George on suspicion of rape on June 22, and he was charged the same day. Following a trial in December 2025, he was found guilty of rape and sexual assault by penetration. Detective Constable Daisy Alden, the officer leading the case, praised the victim's courage and determination throughout the investigation.
"Alieu George preyed on the victim and he presents a clear danger to women," Alden stated. "The streets of Brighton and Sussex are safer now he will remain behind bars."She emphasized the police's commitment to ending male violence against women and urged victims of sexual offences to report incidents online, call 101, or dial 999 in emergencies.
Sentencing and Legal Consequences
George appeared for sentencing at Brighton Crown Court on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He received a total sentence of 15 years, comprising 12 years in custody and an additional three years on extended licence. An indefinite restraining order was also imposed to protect the victim.
The case highlights the importance of public vigilance, as three witnesses recognized the victim's distress and promptly contacted the police, leading to George's arrest. Sussex Police reiterated their serious approach to sexual offences and encouraged community cooperation in combating such crimes.
