John Martin, aged 66, was dragged under the ambulance after the emergency vehicle struck both him and his 17-year-old grandson, Conner. According to reports from WSB-TV, the Northeast Georgia Medical Center ambulance initially hit Conner's disabled car, pinning both individuals. Witness Jennifer Wise described the harrowing scene, noting the rainy and foggy conditions that likely contributed to the tragedy.
'There was a body under the ambulance,' Wise recounted. 'I saw the EMT driver open his door and the look on his face was just utter shock.' The Georgia State Patrol confirmed the sequence of events, highlighting the severe weather as a factor in the accident.
Family's Heartbreak and Recovery
Conner survived the crash and is currently receiving treatment at an Atlanta children's hospital. He sustained multiple injuries, including lacerations, internal bleeding, and a broken clavicle. Following a three-and-a-half-hour surgery, his mother, Jennifer Martinez, reported that he is showing signs of improvement.
