Man Hospitalised Following Violent Machete Assault in Bamber Bridge
A man in his 30s has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a brutal machete attack in Bamber Bridge, Lancashire. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, prompting a swift police response and the subsequent arrest of a teenage suspect.
Details of the Assault and Police Investigation
Lancashire Constabulary reported that the assault took place at approximately 4:45 pm on February 7th in the Seven Acres area of Bamber Bridge. According to authorities, the victim was attacked by two individuals armed with a machete and a baseball bat. The attack resulted in the victim sustaining a fracture to his hands and multiple slash wounds.
Thankfully, the injuries are not considered life-threatening, but the victim required immediate hospital treatment following the violent altercation. Police have confirmed that the man is currently receiving medical care for his wounds.
Arrest and Appeal for Information
In connection with the incident, a 19-year-old man from Preston was arrested on suspicion of wounding. He has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries. South Ribble Police have issued a public appeal for information regarding the assault.
"We are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Bamber Bridge," stated South Ribble Police. "We were called at about 4.45 pm yesterday to a report a man was being attacked by two men armed with a machete and a baseball bat on Seven Acres in the town."
The investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the attack and identify the second assailant involved.
