In a deeply disturbing case emerging from Wisconsin, a mother has been charged with murder after allegedly claiming she killed her teenage daughter to protect her from billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. Tyiece Oninski, 41, faces a first-degree intentional homicide charge following the death of her 14-year-old daughter, Kuren Rein, in an incident that has shocked the local community and drawn national attention due to the bizarre motive cited.
Disturbing 911 Call Reveals Chilling Details
According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded on Friday, March 20, when Oninski placed a call to the Rock County Communications Center. During a conversation lasting over 13 minutes, she calmly informed the dispatcher that she had murdered her daughter and then attempted to take her own life. Fox 5 Vegas reported that Oninski explicitly stated she "murdered [her daughter] to protect her from somebody else, period," later identifying that individual as X and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
In a particularly chilling exchange, when dispatchers asked if she required an ambulance for her daughter, Oninski reportedly responded, "She's dead, honey. She needs a hearse." She specifically requested both an ambulance for herself and a hearse for her daughter during the call, demonstrating a calculated awareness of the fatal outcome.
Grisly Scene Discovered by Responding Officers
Madison police officers responding to the emergency call arrived at Oninski's residence to discover a horrific scene. They found Oninski with significant self-inflicted injuries, including a deep cut on her neck, slashes across both wrists, and what appeared to be a stab wound on her cheek. Nearby, they discovered her daughter, Kuren Rein, deceased from multiple stab wounds. Investigators located a knife and sheath in close proximity to the teenager's body.
Evidence Points to Premeditated Violence
Further examination of the crime scene revealed a bloody footprint inside the home, which officers later matched to Oninski's blood-covered foot. Kuren's grandfather, who resided in a separate section of the house, told investigators he had just awakened when police arrived and mistakenly believed his granddaughter had already left for her classes at Beloit Memorial High School, where she was a freshman.
Drug Tests and Legal Proceedings
Following the incident, Oninski was transported to a hospital for medical treatment and toxicology testing. Blood tests allegedly confirmed the presence of multiple substances in her system, including benzodiazepines, amphetamines, and THC. Despite these findings, she has been formally charged with first-degree intentional homicide under Wisconsin law, which classifies the offense as a Class A felony punishable by life imprisonment.
The court has set Oninski's bond at $1 million cash, and her next appearance is scheduled for April 14. The case continues to develop as investigators piece together the events leading to this tragic outcome and examine the mental state of the accused mother at the time of the alleged crime.
