Shocking Bodycam Footage Reveals Officer's Reaction After Fatal Shooting
Disturbing bodycam footage released on Friday has exposed a New Jersey police officer's expletive-laden outburst immediately after he fatally shot a man during an early morning altercation. The incident, which occurred in October 2025, involved plainclothes officers from the Jersey City Police Department's Street Crimes Unit encountering 27-year-old Teshawn Rogers.
A Rapid and Fatal Encounter
The newly released video captures the tense moments when officers, traveling in an unmarked vehicle, approached Rogers. Cameras recorded the sound of a gunshot, reportedly discharged by Rogers, prompting him to flee southbound along the sidewalk. As officers exited their vehicle, Officer Lance Jackson, positioned on the passenger side, fired his weapon multiple times, striking Rogers and causing him to collapse onto the pavement.
The aftermath was captured in stark detail. Officer Jackson can be heard shouting, "F**king idiot," with clear fear in his voice as he quickly retreated from Rogers's motionless body. He repeated the phrase "What the f**k!" more frantically moments later. When another officer checked on his condition, Jackson responded, "I'm good!"
Officer in Apparent Shock Following the Shooting
The footage further reveals Jackson in a state of apparent shock following the lethal encounter. He reported the shooting to his superiors while taking shaky breaths and leaning against a residential front gate. "Hey, I'm good," he appeared to mutter, seemingly more to himself than to those around him, as he radioed in the incident.
Supplementary home surveillance footage showed Rogers walking calmly northbound on the sidewalk before noticing the unmarked black van. Upon its arrival, he immediately turned and sprinted in the opposite direction as officers emerged from the vehicle. The video corroborates Jackson firing his weapon and Rogers falling to the ground.
Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation
In the chaotic moments after the shooting, two officers attended to Rogers, administering emergency medical care, while a third checked on Officer Jackson. A firearm, allegedly carried by Rogers, was later discovered in a homeowner's driveway; it had slid under a gate when Rogers fell.
Rogers was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:45 a.m. The specific crime Rogers was suspected of committing prior to the encounter remains unclear, adding a layer of mystery to the case. The Daily Mail has contacted the Attorney General's Office for additional comment.
The officer-involved shooting is now under a formal investigation by the New Jersey Attorney General's Office of Public Integrity and Accountability. This probe will scrutinize the circumstances leading to the use of deadly force and the conduct captured in the released footage.
