Pensioner Dies After Hackney Van Collision, Police Appeal

Police have today released an image of the pensioner who tragically died more than a week after being struck by a van in Hackney. Officers were called to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the junction of Alkham Road and Cazenove Road in Upper Clapton at 3.46pm on February 12.

Victim Identified as Ismail Bham

The pedestrian, who has since been named as 94-year-old Ismail Bham, was taken to hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries on February 23. The driver of the van stopped at the scene, and the Metropolitan Police have confirmed that Mr Bham's family are being supported by specially trained officers during this difficult period.

Ongoing Investigation and Appeal

So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and police enquiries are actively ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the collision to come forward to assist with the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Ed Rulton, of the Met's Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, stated: 'Our thoughts remain with Ismail's family and friends at this extremely difficult time. As we try to build up a full picture of the incident, we are appealing to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it - particularly if they have CCTV or dashcam footage.'
