Police have significantly increased patrols in Bristol city centre following the reported rape of a woman over the weekend, as authorities release images of four men urgently wanted for questioning in connection with the serious incident. The attack is confirmed to have occurred in the Assembly Rooms Lane area in the early hours of Sunday, March 29, at approximately 3.05am, according to Avon and Somerset Police.
Major Investigation Underway
A major and intensive investigation has been launched since the incident, with detectives believing the suspects travelled to the eastern part of Bristol between 3.30am and 4.00am on the same morning. The victim, who was provided with a rapid police response within eight minutes and taken to a secure place of safety, described the suspects as Asian men, thought to be aged in their twenties to thirties.
Police Appeals for Public Assistance
Through diligent police inquiries, including fast-track forensic analysis and comprehensive reviews of security and CCTV footage, images of four men have been obtained. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Almond emphasised that while the men were not present when officers arrived at the scene, they were captured on camera in the city centre that night.
DCI Almond stated: 'Since Sunday, a large number of investigative enquiries have taken place, and further lines of enquiry are being actively followed up. We hope there will be members of the public who can assist us in identifying these four individuals.'
He added: 'Based on our CCTV investigations, we believe they then headed towards the eastern part of the city at about 3.30-4am on Sunday.'
Enhanced Security Measures
Describing the crime as 'awful', DCI Almond reassured the community that the case is being treated with the utmost seriousness. In response, extra high-visibility police patrols have been deployed throughout the city centre this week and will continue over the upcoming bank holiday weekend to bolster public safety and deter further incidents.
Avon and Somerset Police are urging anyone who can identify these men or has any information that could aid the investigation to come forward immediately. Individuals should call 101 and quote reference number 5226085769 or log number 95 of 29 March to provide crucial details that could assist in resolving this distressing case.
