Second Person Implicated in Teen's Tragic Death
Investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department are now pursuing a second individual in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas, the 15-year-old girl whose remains were discovered in the trunk of singer D4vd's Tesla. This significant development was first reported by the TMZ network's podcast, '2 Angry Men', hosted by renowned defence attorney Mark Geragos and TMZ Founder Harvey Levin.
Unravelling the Timeline with Digital Evidence
According to the podcast, multiple sources close to the LAPD investigation have confirmed that detectives firmly believe another person participated in Rivas's death. This aligns with a separate report from People magazine, which added that the unnamed individual likely assisted with the disposal of the body. While D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has been identified as a suspect, he has not been charged with any crime.
Mark Geragos provided a crucial insight into the investigation's progress, revealing that the police have constructed an exceptionally detailed minute-by-minute timeline of the crime. This was achieved by triangulating social media posts, cell phone records, and sophisticated Tesla tracking data. "They have triangulated this to the point where...they've got a chart at LAPD that you would not believe," Geragos stated.
The Role of Technology and the Ongoing Investigation
Harvey Levin suggested that footage from the Tesla's comprehensive interior and exterior camera systems may be a key factor, potentially providing the police with visual evidence of an accomplice. The LAPD, however, has officially declined to confirm any reporting regarding a second suspect at this time.
The grim discovery was made on September 8, one day after what would have been Celeste's 16th birthday. Her body was found inside the front trunk (or 'frunk') of D4vd's impounded car after workers at the yard reported a foul smell. The vehicle had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for approximately a month, while D4vd was on tour across the United States.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition and dismemberment, authorities have not yet determined a cause of death and are awaiting toxicology reports. Celeste Rivas had been missing for over a year after she ran away from her home in Lake Elsinore, California, for the final time in April 2024. As of November 22, no arrests or charges have been made, and reports indicate that D4vd is allegedly not cooperating with law enforcement and has not been interviewed.
