Teenage Killer Sentenced After Stabbing Boy, 14, in Heart

A teenage boy who fatally stabbed a 14-year-old in the heart and then boasted about the killing in a rap video has been handed the youth equivalent of a life sentence. The victim, Ibrahima Seck, was attacked in New Moston, north Manchester, on June 8, 2025, and died almost an hour later in hospital.

Chase and Fatal Stabbing in Manchester

Ibrahima Seck was chased down by three boys, with one of them, referred to as Boy A in court, stabbing him in the heart. The incident occurred after a brief altercation on Nuthurst Road, where Ibrahima had been on his way to play football with friends. Prosecutor Jaime Hamilton KC told the trial that Boy B handed Boy A a knife, leading to the fatal wound that penetrated Ibrahima's heart.

All three defendants were convicted for their roles in the murder following a trial in December. Boy A was found guilty of murder, while Boy B and Boy C were found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter for assisting and encouraging the knifeman.

Boasting in Rap Video After the Killing

In a disturbing turn, Boy A filmed a rap video in the aftermath of the attack, where he boasted, "We just done a murder." This video was presented as evidence during the trial, highlighting the callous nature of the crime. The prosecutor stated that the defendants had been part of a group threatening Ibrahima and his family prior to the incident.

Sentencing and Family Tributes

Today, the court sentenced Boy A to detention at His Majesty's pleasure for a minimum of 11 years and ten months. Boy B received a sentence of two years and ten months, and Boy C was sentenced to two years and four months, with both serving two-thirds of their terms in detention. Boy A had previously admitted to manslaughter.

Ibrahima's family paid a heartfelt tribute, describing him as a funny, caring, and hardworking young boy who was well-liked. They expressed their devastation, saying, "The killers have killed two people - me and my son. Why would anyone do this to him? He does nothing wrong. My family want justice."

Details of the Attack and Trial

The attack unfolded when Ibrahima slipped to the ground during the chase, and Boy A was on him in seconds, assisted by the other two boys. Footage showed that after a fight involving Boy A and a friend of Ibrahima, Boy B handed over the knife upon request. Boy B gave evidence at the trial, while Boy A and Boy C declined, with Boy A's barrister accusing Boy B of trying to shift blame.

This case underscores the ongoing issue of knife crime in the UK, with the brutal nature of the attack and subsequent boasting drawing widespread condemnation. The sentencing aims to deliver justice for Ibrahima's family and serve as a deterrent against such violent acts.
