UK's Top 10 Most Dangerous Areas: Camden and Islington Lead

New crime statistics from the City Safety Index have unveiled the ten most dangerous areas in the United Kingdom, with two locations in London claiming the top positions. The data, compiled by Get Licensed, the UK's leading security training provider, highlights regions where heightened vigilance is advised for residents and visitors alike.

Manchester and Leicester Feature in the Rankings

Manchester ranks as the tenth most dangerous city in the UK, despite showing improvement from the previous year. With an average crime rate of 152 incidents per 1,000 residents, this northern hub remains a concern. Leicester follows closely in ninth place, while Newcastle upon Tyne and Middlesbrough secure eighth and seventh positions respectively.

Blackpool and Bristol Among the Riskiest Locations

Blackpool outpaces many urban centres, landing in sixth place on the list of high-risk areas. Bristol, known for its historical significance, records a crime rate slightly below that of London's Westminster borough, making it only marginally safer. Nottingham is identified as one of the top three most hazardous locations, with an annual crime rate of approximately 118 per 1,000 residents across postcodes NG1 to NG34.

Islington and Camden Dominate the Danger List

Islington has been singled out as the second least safe place in Great Britain, particularly in postcodes N1, N4 to N8, N16, and N19. In these zones, robberies and thefts are the most commonly reported crimes, with rates running three times higher than the national average. Crime in Islington has surged by over 8% compared to the previous year, and reoffending rates remain alarmingly high.

Topping the list as Britain's most dangerous area is the London borough of Camden. Despite its popularity among locals and tourists, Camden has gained notoriety for incidents of harassment, antisocial behaviour, and violent disorder. Postcodes spanning the borough, especially N1, N6, N7, N19, and NW1 through NW8, are flagged as the highest-risk zones. Offenders in Camden also exhibit a significantly high likelihood of reoffending.
