Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty has shared the first glimpse of his wedding day, as he prepares to marry Holly Ramsay in a ceremony overshadowed by a deep family rift that has excluded his own mother.
A Frosty Morning and a Family Absence
The three-time Olympic gold medallist, 30, posted a serene image to his Instagram Stories on the morning of his nuptials, showing a stunning sunrise over a frosty field and a pool. He captioned the idyllic scene simply: "Morning of our wedding." The couple are set to tie the knot at the historic Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Bath.
However, the joyous occasion has been marred by a reported family feud. It is understood that Adam Peaty's mother, Caroline, and father, Mark, along with most of his wider family, are not in attendance. The sole representative from his side is his sister, Bethany, who is also serving as a bridesmaid for her soon-to-be sister-in-law.
The Roots of the Rift
The discord is said to have begun around the time of the couple's engagement party in September 2024, which was filmed for a potential Netflix special as part of Gordon Ramsay's show. Reports suggest not all of Adam's family were invited to that event, which left his mother disappointed.
A source claimed that Caroline confronted celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay at the party, where guests were required to sign non-disclosure agreements and surrender their phones. The situation reportedly deteriorated from there, with a later disagreement over the appropriateness of the dress Caroline had bought for the wedding.
Caroline Peaty has publicly expressed her heartbreak, telling the Mail: "He’s in Gordon’s clutches. I can’t help but feel like they are pulling him away from me. Their family is very insular."
Peaty's Statement and a Star-Studded Celebration
In response, Adam Peaty issued a statement on his Instagram, which was also shared by Holly. He referenced an "ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events", without providing specific details. He wrote of working to improve himself and thanked those who had shown kindness, adding: "We just need people to be aware that there are always two sides to every story."
Despite the family tension, the wedding is a major celebrity affair. Holly's father, Gordon Ramsay, will be present alongside her mother Tana, sisters Tilly and Megan, and brother Jack. A host of famous faces, including Victoria and David Beckham and their children, are also expected to join the celebrations.
The couple, who got engaged in September 2024, recently enjoyed a luxury pre-wedding trip to Lapland. Adam, who shares a five-year-old son with his ex-partner Eirianedd Munro, has previously described himself as "the luckiest man on earth" in the lead-up to his wedding day.
