The mother of Olympic champion Adam Peaty has spoken of her profound heartbreak after being excluded from her son's wedding to Holly Ramsay today.
A Family Celebration Overshadowed by Feud
While celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, his wife Tana, and their children Tilly, Megan, and Jack will be in attendance at the ceremony, alongside famous guests like David and Victoria Beckham, a significant absence will be felt. Adam Peaty's parents, Caroline and Mark, along with most of his wider family, will not be present. They will instead remain at their family home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.
The sole family member from Adam's side expected to witness the union is his sister, Bethany, 32, who is serving as a bridesmaid for 25-year-old Holly. The exclusion stems from an ongoing and deeply painful family rift that has left Caroline Peaty devastated.
'My Family is Broken,' Says Devastated Mother
In an emotional interview, Caroline Peaty did not hold back in expressing her feelings to MailOnline. "I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out," she stated.
She linked the situation directly to the festive period, marking a sad first for her. "This is the first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together – my family is broken," Caroline explained. "Yes, I have my other grandchildren. Yes, I have my other children, but my family is split because of the goings on…because of the wedding."
Despite her pain, Caroline expressed a desire to avoid causing further disruption, acknowledging that her presence might create more tension. "Me going would just cause even more of a storm and I don’t want to ruin his wedding day. I wanted to be there quietly to watch him get married, but that can’t happen now."
A Plea for Family as Foundation
Caroline Peaty reflected on the core value of family, suggesting a generational or philosophical divide at the heart of the conflict. "I don’t know if they are too young or don’t value family as much as I have, but they don’t understand that family is the foundation to everything," she said.
She emphasised this point by referencing her own 83-year-old mother's ongoing support. "‘Family is the foundation you can return to when things get rough. I’ve had that throughout my life. Luckily my mum is still alive and still supports me at 83 – I still get told off as if I’m five!"
While choosing to keep the details of hurtful exchanged messages private, Caroline's anguish over the situation is clear. The wedding day, set for December 27th, 2025, will therefore proceed with a notable shadow cast by the absent family members from the groom's side.
