Amanda Holden's Chaotic House Hunt with Parents

Britain's Got Talent judge and television personality Amanda Holden has candidly described a recent family house-hunting expedition as "horrific," sharing a series of amusing and chaotic mishaps that unfolded during the search for her parents' new home. The star revealed that her parents sold their property in Cornwall to relocate closer to her, prompting a joint effort to find a "done-up, fabulous" residence for their next two decades.

Searching in West Sussex and Hampshire

Holden explained that she had "made" her parents explore areas like West Wittering and Bosham in West Sussex, after initially considering Hampshire, where she was raised. However, the process quickly hit a snag when she viewed a property and immediately deemed it "not a good house" due to the excessive work required. The day took an unexpected turn when her mother, Judith Mary Harrison, tripped over a piece of concrete, resulting in a muddy fall that left her jeans and sleeve covered. An estate agent was seen "dusting her off," leading to light-hearted inquiries about whether she had been "on the old sauce."

Café Chaos and Lost Earring Drama

The mishaps continued as the family visited Bosham harbour and stopped at the Shoreside Café for a break and a cup of tea. After using the facilities, Holden returned to find her mother "on her knees in the café," sparking initial concern that she had fallen again. It turned out that Judith had flicked her hair, causing a Claire's accessory earring to roll under a large catering fridge. Holden recounted the scene: "I'm like, 'Oh, Mummy, have you fallen over again? And she said, 'No'. She said, 'I flicked my hair, and my earring's gone under the fridge'. I was like, 'Oh my God'. So the poor woman who's trying to serve cream tea to everyone is also on her hands and knees, and she says, 'I can see it, I can see it'."

In a comical twist, Holden beckoned her driver, Alan, for assistance. Together, Alan and the café staff moved the massive fridge to retrieve the inexpensive earring, adding to the day's absurdity. Holden reflected, "I mean, it wasn't worth anything. But that was my day yesterday."

Final House and Fashion Philosophy

When asked about a third property, Holden bluntly stated, "Oh, the third house. No, it was horrific. It was alright inside, but horrible on the outside, but we met a nice estate agent through that." In related news, reports have surfaced this month about Holden's unwavering commitment to her bold fashion choices on Britain's Got Talent. She told The Sun, "Of course there will be side boob, leg and anything else that I can get out. The only change is that I care less these days about what anyone thinks of me. I’m surrounded by like-minded people who have good energy. I don’t have time for negativity."

Holden, who faced hundreds of viewer complaints to Ofcom over a dress in 2017, emphasized her "no rule book" approach to style. She added, "I call it self-preservation. I have no rule book with fashion - I encourage everyone to wear whatever makes them feel good. You’ll never see me without a heel, a lash and a bit of lippy, and that’s because I want to, not because I feel I have to. I perhaps have way more courage now than I did before - there is no holding me back!"
