The world of Sex and the City has been rocked by a fresh wave of controversy, as disgraced actor Chris Noth has launched a public attack on his former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
A Bizarre Gym Post Sparks Feud
Noth, 71, best known for playing Carrie Bradshaw's love interest Mr. Big, appeared to take aim at Parker, 60, in a cryptic social media post earlier this week. The actor shared a photograph of himself in a gym, sitting on an exercise machine while holding weights. He captioned the image: 'F&@k New Years - LET'S GO!'
The post took a pointed turn when a fan commented, 'You mean f**k Sarah Jessica Parker and her award right? Lol.' Noth replied with a simple: 'Right.' This seemingly confirmed the dig was directed at Parker, who was honoured with the prestigious Carol Burnett Award at a Golden Globes event last Thursday.
Fallout from 2021 Assault Allegations
Noth's career has been in freefall since December 2021, when two women anonymously accused him of sexual assault in separate incidents alleged to have occurred in 2004 and 2015. No criminal charges were ever brought, and Noth has vehemently denied the claims, stating they were 'categorically false' and describing the encounters as consensual.
Nevertheless, the fallout was severe. He was dropped by his talent agency, A3 Artists Agency, and his character was abruptly killed off in the first episode of the Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That.... Producers also removed all of his previously shot flashback scenes from the series.
Parker, along with co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, issued a joint statement at the time, saying they were 'deeply saddened' by the allegations and supported the women who came forward. Parker later confirmed in a 2022 interview that she had not been in contact with Noth since the scandal broke.
A Career in Limbo and a Mysterious Film
Noth has not starred in a major television show or film since the allegations surfaced. His only known post-scandal role is in Craig Singer's thriller comedy The Block, where he plays a horror writer. The film, also starring Jackie Earle Haley and Elias Koteas, was originally slated for release in autumn 2023 but has been postponed with no confirmed new date.
Meanwhile, Sarah Jessica Parker's career continues to ascend. During her Carol Burnett Award acceptance speech, she praised the 'most glorious ensemble of women and actors' she had worked with over 25 years on Sex and the City, without mentioning Noth directly.
Fans online were left bewildered by Noth's unexpected comment, with many questioning the motive behind his public swipe. The Daily Mail approached Noth's representatives for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
