Davina McCall's Third Marriage Confession: 'This Was Different'
Davina McCall's candid confession on third marriage

Television presenter Davina McCall has offered a heartfelt and personal insight into her recent marriage to celebrity hairstylist Michael Douglas, describing the day as uniquely special compared to other major life events.

A Private and Intimate Celebration

The couple, who began dating in 2018, tied the knot in a private ceremony at the end of 2025, announcing their engagement just months earlier in September. Speaking on their shared podcast, 'Making The Cut', the 58-year-old Masked Singer panellist confessed the day felt profoundly different.

"Best day of my life," Davina revealed to Michael. "I’ve loved giving birth to my kids, but this was different. This was a different thing. A beautiful, very, very small and intimate event. Very private."

Her new husband, 49-year-old Michael Douglas, echoed her sentiments, calling it a "brilliant day" and emphasising how they successfully kept the occasion away from the public eye, despite a few photos being taken outside the venue.

This marks the third marriage for Davina, who was previously married to Andrew Leggett from 1997 to 1999 and to Matthew Robertson between 2000 and 2017.

Health Scares Prompting Life Changes

Davina's joyful marriage admission comes after a period of significant health challenges. In a brave move last November, she used her Instagram platform to inform fans she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

She explained that she discovered a small, intermittent lump after being reminded to check her breasts by signs backstage at ITV's Lorraine, hosted by Lorraine Kelly. Davina stated the cancer was caught "very, very early" and was relieved to have had it removed, confirming it had not spread.

This diagnosis followed another serious health episode where Davina underwent surgery to remove a rare, benign brain tumour. Reflecting on these ordeals on her 'Miss Me?' podcast, she described having a major breakthrough.

"I realised that I needed to de-stress my life," she said. "Interestingly, I realised that – but then the breast cancer, which I thought was a very, very frightening thing, made me realise that I really, really had to put that into place. And I have now."

A Message for Early Detection

Davina's public sharing of her experience has amplified crucial conversations around breast cancer awareness and the importance of recognising early symptoms.

Health experts have praised such openness. Speaking to Women’s Health, Dr Wuraola Adeyemo highlighted: "Early breast cancer can present with subtle changes that are easy to ignore or mistake for normal variations. Awareness of these signs is important for all women as it supports earlier detection, which is linked with improved treatment outcomes."

Davina McCall's story now intertwines a new chapter of marital happiness with a powerful testament to resilience and proactive health management, inspiring many with her candidness.
