Hollywood actor and podcast host Dax Shepard has shared a surprising and heartfelt conversation with his youngest daughter, revealing her strong desire to become a mother at just 11 years old. On a recent episode of his popular Armchair Expert podcast, the 51-year-old detailed how Delta, his daughter with wife Kristen Bell, is already planning her future family.
A Father's Supportive Promise
Shepard explained that Delta enthusiastically told him she "can't wait to have a baby." Rather than dismissing her childhood dream, the actor focused on being supportive and non-judgmental. He guessed she might want her first child at 18, but Delta corrected him, suggesting she saw herself becoming a parent much later, likely in her mid-20s.
In response, Shepard made a significant offer to aid her future ambitions. He promised to pay for her to freeze her eggs when she turns 18, acknowledging this was a privileged option but one that could alleviate future pressure. "I said, 'If you want to, we’ll freeze your eggs when you’re 18. I’ll pay for you to get your eggs frozen so you don’t have to think about that,'" Shepard recounted, adding he believed she would be a "great mom."
Family Life and Past Controversy
The actor, who also shares a 12-year-old daughter, Lincoln, with Bell, described their family life as a "traveling circus" centred around Delta's extensive collection of stuffed animals. This sweet revelation comes months after the couple faced serious backlash. In October 2023, Bell posted a controversial Instagram message for their 12th wedding anniversary, quoting Shepard as saying, "I would never kill you... Even though I'm heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would."
The post, shared during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, was widely condemned as insensitive by advocates and survivors. Bell did not publicly address the criticism, removed the post, and skipped a scheduled appearance on the Today show shortly afterwards.
A Lasting Hollywood Partnership
Despite recent controversies, Shepard and Bell remain one of Hollywood's most candid couples. They first met in 2004, but Bell admits she initially found Shepard overly chatty. They reconnected in 2007, with their romance famously sparked when Shepard took a piece of gum directly from Bell's mouth. After a brief split initiated by Shepard, he called her days later to admit he had made "a big mistake."
The pair eventually married in a low-key 2013 courthouse ceremony in Beverly Hills, after Bell re-proposed to Shepard. They are now known for their open discussions about marriage, therapy, and parenting, with Bell frequently praising her husband's protective and loyal nature.
