Ted, the beloved dog from the BBC show Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, has passed away at the age of 15. The Patterdale Terrier mix had been a fixture on the fishing programme for six years, accompanying hosts Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse on their angling adventures.
Both Mortimer and Whitehouse paid heartfelt tributes to Ted. Mortimer described him as a "greatest little chum" and noted that Ted had "gone to the great briefcase emporium in the sky." Whitehouse added that Ted was "a species all of his own" and that he would be deeply missed.
Ted belonged to the show's executive producer, Lisa Clark, who rescued him from a dogs' home in Surrey when he was six months old. Clark expressed her gratitude for the joy Ted brought to viewers and said he had been a "true companion."
Ted will make his final appearance in the upcoming series of Gone Fishing, having been a scene-stealing star since his debut in series three. The show, which first aired in 2018, has won a devoted following for its gentle humour and beautiful scenery, with Ted often stealing the spotlight with his playful antics and affectionate nature.
Fans of the programme have taken to social media to share their condolences, remembering Ted as an integral part of the show's charm. His legacy will live on through the many episodes he brightened with his presence.
