Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has found himself at the centre of controversy once again, accused of making a pointed and "upsetting" remark about the family of his new son-in-law, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.
Social Media Spark Reignites Tensions
The latest row erupted on social media, where Ramsay, 57, commented on a photo shared by his daughter Holly and Adam Peaty. The photo was taken the night before the couple's wedding on December 27, 2025. Ramsay's comment, which read "Beautiful [red heart emoji] love you both dad", was interpreted by many followers as a deliberate slight against Adam's own parents.
One user directly challenged the chef, writing: "You can't help yourself, can you? You have to keep making it upsetting for Adam's parents. You made the wedding day a circus, and you are determined to make his family suffer shame on you." Others questioned the absence of Adam's mother and father from the narrative, with a third adding the family "must be heartbroken".
A Wedding Speech That Deepened the Divide
This incident is not the first time Ramsay has been accused of targeting the Peaty family. During his father-of-the-bride speech at the wedding reception, he made remarks that reportedly left Adam's relatives feeling "outraged and hurt".
Ramsay told the newlyweds that his wife, Tana, would be a "good mum to them both" and, looking at his own wife, told Adam: "Look at Tana and that's what you have to look forward to." He then added a pointed line to Holly, saying: "Shame you don't have the same."
A source close to Adam's mother, Caroline, told the Daily Mail: "Caroline can't believe Gordon brought their family troubles up in his speech. It is outrageous and very hurtful. By him saying Tana will be a good mum to them both makes Caroline sound like a bad mum. It was a cruel dig at her."
The Background of a Bitter Family Fallout
The public comments come amid an ongoing and painful family feud for the 31-year-old Olympian. Just weeks before his wedding at Bath Abbey, Adam made the decision to uninvite his entire family from the ceremony. This included his parents, Caroline and Mark, his elderly aunt and uncle, and his brother, James, who had been set to be a groomsman.
Reports suggest the fallout was triggered after Adam allegedly received threatening messages from his brother, and believed his parents were taking his sibling's side. The rift was so deep that, hours before the wedding, Adam's aunt, Louise, sent him a scathing text message which read: "I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through... Remember on this, your happiest day... that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams."
Adam reportedly did not receive the message, having already blocked most of his family. His sister, Bethany, was the only family member present, acting as a bridesmaid for Holly.
Mixed Reactions and a Divided Public
While many have criticised Ramsay's involvement, others have rushed to his defence. Responding to the online backlash, one supporter stated: "It's his daughter's Instagram page. He can comment as he pleases." Another argued: "What about them? What happened between them is exactly that, between them. No one else."
The situation highlights the intense public scrutiny surrounding the celebrity family feud, blurring the lines between private conflict and public commentary. As the story continues to develop, it remains a stark reminder of how familial disputes can be amplified under the glare of the media spotlight.
