Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay caused a stir in a quiet Wiltshire village shop just hours after his daughter's lavish wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty. The TV star, 59, visited the Yatton Keynell Village Store in Chippenham to stock up on essentials, delighting local shopkeepers who shared a selfie with the famous customer on Facebook.
A Star-Studded Wedding and a Surprise Visit
The impromptu visit came on the heels of the high-profile wedding of Ramsay's influencer daughter, Holly, 25, to Adam Peaty, 31. The couple tied the knot at the historic Bath Abbey on Saturday before hosting a reception for more than 200 guests at the exclusive Kin House. Mere hours after the celebrations concluded, Ramsay was spotted in the local village shop, where staff warmly welcomed him.
The shop's Facebook post read: 'We had an extra special customer this morning Gordon Ramsay thanks for popping into our little village shop. We hope you all had the best time yesterday celebrating your daughter's wedding.'
Underlying Family Drama Casts a Shadow
However, the joyous occasion was reportedly marred by a significant family rift. Adam Peaty's parents, Caroline and Mark, along with most of his family, were not invited to the wedding. The only exception was his sister, Beth, who served as a bridesmaid.
Reports suggest Gordon Ramsay made pointed remarks during his father-of-the-bride speech. He is said to have told the newlyweds that his wife, Tana, 'will be a good mum to them both', and allegedly told Holly, 'Shame you don't have the same', in a perceived dig at Adam's absent parents.
Adam's mother, Caroline, 59, spoke of her heartbreak from her home in Staffordshire, stating she felt Holly and Adam had 'cut my heart out'. She was also not invited to Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse, an event attended by Tana Ramsay and Victoria Beckham.
Emotional Fallout and a Devastating Text
In his own speech, Adam Peaty did not mention his family, instead praising his swim coach, Mel Marshall, whom he reportedly described as being 'like a mum' to him. The situation escalated when, moments before entering the abbey, Adam received a devastating text message from his uninvited aunt, Louise.
The message read: 'I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through... Remember on this, your happiest day... that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.'
Despite the turmoil, Caroline Peaty sent a card and gift to her son for his 31st birthday on Sunday. The roots of the conflict are believed to trace back to September 2024, when wider Peaty family members were snubbed for the couple's engagement party.
