Kardashian Sisters Display 'Frustration' Over Sussex Photo Saga, Body Language Expert Reveals
Kim and Khloe Kardashian were reportedly left feeling 'frustrated' after claiming they were asked to delete photographs featuring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from their mother Kris Jenner's lavish 70th birthday celebration, according to a prominent body language analyst. The incident, which has been dubbed 'photogate' by the sisters themselves, unfolded following the James Bond-themed party held at Jeff Bezos' Beverly Hills estate on November 8.
The Photo Posting and Subsequent Deletion
Initially, both Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner shared images from the star-studded event on their social media accounts. These photographs captured Prince Harry and Meghan Markle mingling with the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch, including one moment where Harry appeared to be dancing toward her on the ballroom floor. However, in a puzzling turn of events, all pictures of the Sussexes were removed from their profiles just 48 hours later, sparking widespread speculation and rumour across celebrity news outlets.
Reports from People magazine, a publication known to have a favourable relationship with the Sussexes, suggested that Meghan and Harry had specifically requested that no interior party photographs be published. It was further claimed that the couple had indicated their preference on a photo consent form, which ultimately led to the images being taken down. The Kardashians later addressed the controversy directly on Khloe's podcast, 'Khloe In Wonder Land', offering their version of events for the first time.
Body Language Analysis Reveals Underlying Sentiments
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, renowned UK body language expert Judi James provided a detailed assessment of Kim and Khloe's demeanour during the podcast discussion. 'The implications about their true feelings come from both their paralanguage, in other words, their choices of words, tone, and body language,' James explained. She noted that Khloe appeared to be more openly cynical in her responses, while Kim exhibited signs of irritation over the entire ordeal.
According to James, Khloe's introduction to the topic was telling. 'Her introduction to the incident sounds laden with meaning. As she says the two words 'Meghan Markle', she puts a tonal full stop between them and uses one emphatic head baton per word,' the expert observed. 'There is no moment of fond expressions here as the name comes up, more some knowing eye contact to announce a good piece of drama.'
Kim's reaction was similarly analysed. 'Kim does smile slightly and tilt her head, but she also lets out an 'Aww' like a small groan about the incident,' James stated. 'Kim's tone now becomes partly recitative as though frustrated by the fuss.' The expert also highlighted how Kim subtly created social distance by referring to Meghan as 'Mom's friend' rather than using a more inclusive term like 'our friend'.
The Kardashians' Account of Events
During the podcast episode, Kim Kardashian elaborated on the reasoning behind the photo removal. 'I think they realised it was Remembrance Day and they didn't want to be seen at a party,' she told Khloe. Kim was adamant that the images had been shared online with the Sussexes' prior consent, emphasising, 'We were told that it was totally cool to post. We're never ones to post without permission. It's not who we are.'
She explained that Harry and Meghan apparently changed their minds after the fact, requesting the pictures be 'taken down' because they did not wish to be perceived as 'partying and dancing on the dance floor' on the eve of such a solemn occasion. 'I think they realised it was Remembrance Day, and they didn't want to be seen at a party, even though it's already up, you know, and then taken down,' Kim recounted. 'And then I think they realised, like, 'oh, this was so silly'.'
Kim also drew a distinction between the Sussexes' attendance at the Baby2Baby charity gala earlier that evening and the birthday festivities. 'That was fine, but maybe not partying and dancing on the dance floor or whatever,' she noted. 'So we took them down to respect Remembrance Day.' Despite the friction, Kim described the situation as 'really innocent' and acknowledged the longstanding friendship between her mother and Meghan, stating, 'Mom and Meghan have been friends for some years now, and they have a really sweet relationship.'
Context and Aftermath of the Beverly Hills Celebration
The Sussexes were among the elite guests invited to the extravagant party hosted by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez at their $165 million property. Notably, the celebration occurred the night before royals gathered at London's Cenotaph for the annual Remembrance Sunday service, where King Charles and other family members honoured those who sacrificed their lives in conflict.
Although the original images were deleted from the Kardashians' accounts, they had already been widely circulated on social media platforms and published by numerous American websites. In the photographs, Prince Harry appeared jovial, with his arm around Kris Jenner, while Meghan maintained a more serious expression with her hand placed on Jenner's shoulder. The episode continues to fuel discussions about celebrity privacy, social media etiquette, and the intricate dynamics within high-profile friendships.
