Love Island Star's Ex-Girlfriend Delivers Scathing Assessment of His Character
Former Love Island contestant Abi Moores has launched a blistering verbal attack on her ex-boyfriend Scott van-der-Sluis, branding the footballer turned reality star "quite selfish" and questioning his true motivations for appearing on the hit ITV2 dating programme.
Explosive Allegations from the Villa
In a candid interview with The Sun, Moores, who was coupled up with van-der-Sluis during the tenth series of Love Island in 2023, painted a picture of a self-absorbed contestant who showed little regard for those around him. The 25-year-old footballer is currently appearing on the All Stars spin-off edition of the show, where he finds himself embroiled in a complex love triangle involving Millie Court and Jess Harding, while being coupled with fellow contestant Leanne Amaning.
"I think he's quite selfish," Moores stated unequivocally. "Yeah, I'd probably say he's done multiple TV shows - I think it's another job for him." Her comments suggest she believes van-der-Sluis is more interested in building his celebrity profile than genuinely seeking romantic connections.
Warning Issued to Current Love Interest
Moores didn't hold back when offering advice to van-der-Sluis's current Love Island partner, Leanne Amaning, who first appeared on the show's sixth series. "If I were Leanne, I'd tell her to run away!" she exclaimed, expressing concern about his intentions. "I wouldn't trust that he's in there for intentions to find a girlfriend. I think it's more to gain a few more followers and maybe sign a deal with Boohoo Man."
The former reality star elaborated on her experiences with van-der-Sluis during their time together in the villa, revealing specific behaviours that she found troubling. "He was quite rude to me and to the people that we were living with - all of the producers and stuff," she claimed. "He would just take his food up to his room and wouldn't sit and eat with us."
Balanced Perspective Amidst Criticism
Despite her harsh assessment, Moores did acknowledge that van-der-Sluis might simply be playing a role expected of reality television personalities. "He is genuinely him and who he was," she conceded, while also praising him for "bringing entertainment" to television and recognising that he's "only doing his job" as a reality star.
However, she expressed genuine concern about contestants who don't make their true intentions clear from the outset. "I worry whenever someone does not display their true intentions in the villa," she explained, noting how much it can "hurt" when the truth eventually emerges about someone being there primarily for career advancement rather than romantic connection.
New Chapter for Moores with MAFS Star
While offering her perspective on her former flame, Moores is currently enjoying a much happier chapter in her own romantic life. She's now engaged to Married At First Sight star Nathan Campbell, who proposed after just a few months of dating. According to an insider, Campbell "did not hold back when it came to putting on a lavish display" for the proposal, presenting Moores with a substantial engagement ring.
"Abi couldn't be happier and immediately said yes - she feels like she's finally found a keeper in Nathan," the source revealed. The couple were reportedly set up by mutual friend Reuben Collins during a Sellebrity Soccer event, with Collins orchestrating their initial meeting in what Moores described as a carefully planned introduction.
The contrast between Moores's current relationship and her experience with van-der-Sluis couldn't be more striking, highlighting her journey from what she perceived as a self-serving reality show romance to what appears to be a genuinely committed partnership outside the villa walls.
