Australian Ninja Warrior star Ben Polson and his wife Kate have shared joyous news, revealing they are expecting their first child together. This exciting development comes just six months after the couple tied the knot in a ceremony in Western Australia.
Social Media Announcement and Celebrity Reactions
The couple announced their pregnancy on social media this Wednesday, posting a heartfelt photograph that captured the moment. In the image, Kate tenderly cradles her growing baby bump while Ben proudly holds their sonogram. The caption simply read: 'Baby Boy Polson due August 2026.'
The announcement prompted an outpouring of congratulations from Ben's celebrity friends and colleagues. Fellow Australian Ninja Warrior star Nathan Ryles commented enthusiastically: 'Unreal bro. So happy for you guys.' Celebrity magician Magic Mike Webb added: 'Amazing! Congrats you two.'
Ben Polson's Ninja Warrior Legacy
Ben Polson made television history in 2020 when he became Australia's first ever Ninja Warrior champion. His remarkable achievement involved scaling the formidable Mount Midoriyama obstacle in just 25.56 seconds, earning him an impressive $400,000 prize.
Previous Relationship with Co-Star Olivia Vivian
This pregnancy announcement follows Ben's separation from his Ninja Warrior co-star Olivia Vivian in June 2023, after five years together. Speaking to New Idea magazine at the time, Olivia described the split as 'heartbreaking,' though she emphasized it was amicable.
'Our relationship was loving, respectful and fun, but in that last year, we started to want different things and drifted apart,' the former Olympic gymnast explained. 'It wasn't messy. Things just fizzled out romantically and we became companions rather than lovers.'
Olivia revealed that the couple had attempted to salvage their relationship for approximately a year before mutually deciding to part ways. Both individuals subsequently moved out of the home they had shared together.
The Beginning of Their Romance
Reflecting on their initial connection, Ben previously described how he fell in love with Olivia after meeting at an official Ninja training academy. He shared his first impressions during an interview: 'I started to kind of go... she's obviously very good looking. She's got that personality. She's a bit out there. She's just herself. She doesn't care what anyone else thinks and I was really attracted to that... and here we are.'
Olivia offered her own recollection to The West Australian, remembering that what was supposed to be a sixty-minute meeting at the Ninja academy unexpectedly stretched to seven hours. 'Two other members didn't show up, and this one-hour meeting went for seven hours. We didn't get any work done, it was just that connection,' she recalled fondly.
Now, Ben embarks on a new chapter with his wife Kate, anticipating the arrival of their first child in August 2026. This marks a significant personal milestone for the Ninja Warrior champion as he transitions into fatherhood.
