The glittering wedding of Holly Ramsay and Olympic champion Adam Peaty at Bath Abbey on Saturday has been overshadowed by a bitter family rift, with sources now stressing that the couple's sweet Strictly Come Dancing origin story is being forgotten.
A Strictly Spark Ignites Romance
Holly Ramsay, 25, was introduced to the swimmer, 31, by her younger sister Tilly in 2021. The meeting took place during the series where both Tilly and Adam were contestants. After the live Saturday night shows, families and contestants would mingle, and it was in this environment that Adam and Holly first connected.
However, at that time, Adam was in a relationship with Eirianedd Munro, the mother of his son, George, who was born in 2019. The couple split shortly after the BBC programme concluded, fuelling rumours of the infamous 'Strictly curse'. An insider clarified to the Daily Mail that it was Holly who had caught Adam's eye, suggesting his previous relationship may not have been on solid ground.
Wedding Joy Marred by Family Absence
The couple's wedding at Bath Abbey was attended by some 200 guests, yet notably absent were most of Adam Peaty's family, including his mother Caroline. They were reportedly banned from the ceremony amid an ongoing feud, casting a shadow over the celebrations.
Following the lavish ceremony, a source close to the couple lamented that the focus had shifted entirely to the family dispute. "Amid the Peaty family row, people seem to have forgotten how Holly and Adam met," they said. "Holly went to cheer Tilly on, then she met Adam."
Moving Forward as a Blended Family
Despite the controversy, the couple are looking to the future. A source indicated that Adam's ex-partner, Eirianedd Munro, believes their son George is "lucky to have a stepmum like Holly". When announcing his split from Eiri in August 2022, Adam, from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, posted a statement on Instagram focusing on their son's wellbeing, but made no mention of Holly.
He wrote: "We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, two of those with our gorgeous son George. Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the wellbeing of our family at this difficult time so I ask that our privacy is respected."
The couple's romance, which blossomed just months after his previous relationship ended, is a testament to the unpredictable connections forged in the Strictly Come Dancing bubble—a beginning now etched into their history as they start their married life.
