Peter Andre's Heartbreaking Update on Mum's Parkinson's: She Can No Longer Speak
Peter Andre shares devastating update on mum's Parkinson's battle

Singer and television personality Peter Andre has shared a devastatingly candid update on his mother's declining health, revealing the brutal reality of her battle with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

A Precious Yet Painful Family Moment

In a heartfelt social media post, the 52-year-old musician posted a sweet video of his young daughter, Belle, on a FaceTime call with her grandparents in Australia. The clip shows Belle blowing a kiss to her Bapou (the Greek word for grandfather) and trying to take the phone to shower her grandparents with affection.

"No matter what happens in my life, moments like these for me are the most precious," Peter told his Instagram followers. He then delivered the sad news: "Sadly, now that mum can’t speak anymore."

He explained that while Belle enjoys daily conversations with her grandfather, the situation with her yiayia (grandmother) is far more difficult. "She does get to see her yiayia daily but sadly, the Parkinson's is taking its toll," he wrote, adding, "I cherish every moment I have with both my parents and my children."

The Relentless Progression of Illness

Peter's mother, Thea, was diagnosed with both Parkinson's and Alzheimer's in 2023. Last month, the star expressed fears that the recent Christmas holidays could be her last, as her condition had "progressed quite a bit."

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Andre described the situation as a "raw pain," stating, "I'm a grown man, but I still can't accept in my heart that these things happen to the people I love the most." He noted that her speech was almost gone, limited to just a word or two, which he finds "heartbreaking."

The family celebrated a significant milestone in September 2025, when Peter's parents marked their 70th wedding anniversary, an event he had prayed for. They even received a congratulatory letter from King Charles. Peter reflected that although his mother's speech is now almost non-existent, he knows the royal gesture filled her heart with warmth.

An Outpouring of Public Support

Peter's emotional post, which has been liked over 21,000 times, was quickly flooded with messages of sympathy and understanding from fans and followers.

Many shared their own experiences with the cruel nature of Parkinson's disease, offering words of comfort and praising the star for using technology to keep his family connected across the miles. One fan commented on the importance of remembering his mother as she was, not as the disease makes her, while others described the FaceTime calls as a way to build "beautiful memories."

The update underscores the challenging journey faced by countless families dealing with neurodegenerative diseases, highlighting both the small, precious moments of connection and the profound sense of loss as a loved one's health declines.
