Gordon Ramsay's Brutal Dig at Adam Peaty's Parents Overshadows Lavish Wedding
Ramsay's dig at Peaty's parents overshadows wedding

The lavish wedding of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and influencer Holly Ramsay was reportedly overshadowed by a bitter family rift and a brutal speech from the bride's father, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

A Speech That Cut Deep

According to a report in The Sun, Gordon Ramsay, 59, used his father-of-the-bride speech at the Saturday ceremony to make a pointed remark about the groom's absent parents. After telling his new son-in-law he was a "lucky man" and praising his daughter's beauty, he is said to have added, "Look at Tana and that's what you have to look forward to." The publication claims he then told Holly, "Shame you don't have the same," in a clear dig at Adam's mother and father.

The 31-year-old Olympian tied the knot with 25-year-old Holly at the historic Bath Abbey, with a reception following at the exclusive Kin House in Wiltshire. The celebrations, however, occurred against a backdrop of a painful estrangement, with Adam's mother, Caroline Peaty, and most of his wider family notably uninvited.

A Family Estrangement and a Mother's Heartbreak

Sitting more than 130 miles away in the family's Staffordshire council house, Caroline Peaty, 59, was said to be "beside herself" with grief at missing her son's wedding day. Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, she stated, "I'm not going to be hurt like this again," having previously told the paper she felt Holly and Adam "have cut my heart out."

The conflict is reported to have escalated in recent months. Caroline was not invited to Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse last month, an event attended by Victoria Beckham and Tana Ramsay. Furthermore, Adam's aunt Louise sent a devastating text to the swimmer just before he entered the abbey, writing, "I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through... Shame on you both."

In his own speech, Adam Peaty did not mention his biological family. Instead, he emotionally praised his long-time swim coach, Mel Marshall, for being his "everything" and for "grounding and inspiring" him, reportedly saying he saw her "like a mum."

Lavish Celebrations and Glaring Absences

Despite the underlying drama, the wedding itself was a meticulously planned, star-studded affair. Holly arrived at the Gothic abbey on the arm of her father, her lace gown hidden beneath an ivory cloak. The celebrity congregation included Sir David and Victoria Beckham and their children, as well as chef Marcus Wareing.

Security was tight, with guards posted at the abbey doors, which were decorated with white roses and hydrangeas. The venue was block-booked for secrecy. Adam's sister, Bethany, was the only member of his immediate family present, serving as a bridesmaid alongside Holly's sisters, Megan and Tilly.

The reception at Kin House featured a banquet of prawn cocktail, beef Wellington, and halibut. The bridesmaids wore dresses by Victoria Beckham, who also designed the outfit worn by mother-of-the-bride Tana Ramsay. The ceremony is expected to feature in an upcoming Netflix documentary about the Ramsay family, which may offer Caroline Peaty her first proper glimpse of the day.

A source close to the situation told The Sun, "This was the Ramsays' plan all along. They wanted Adam's family gone and they have succeeded." Representatives for both Gordon Ramsay and Adam Peaty have been contacted for comment.
