Sara Davies' 'Wedding of the Century' Praise Adds to Adam Peaty Family Feud Fallout
Sara Davies' wedding praise adds to Adam Peaty family feud

Dragons' Den investor Sara Davies has inadvertently intensified the painful fallout from Adam Peaty's wedding by lavishly praising the ceremony as 'the wedding of the century', just days after it was revealed the Olympian's own family were largely excluded from the event.

This Morning Gushing Adds Insult to Injury

Appearing on ITV's This Morning to discuss her new quiz show hosting role on Time Is Money, Davies, 41, turned conversation to the recent nuptials of her friend and business partner, swimmer Adam Peaty. The pair forged a close bond while competing on the same series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.

"It was fabulous," Davies told hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard. "Lots of people don't realise Adam and I became such good friends doing Strictly. Because he just started his business, he was very early on in that journey and we would go for long walks and I'd give him lots of business advice and support."

Davies, who is an investor in Peaty's competitive swimming organisation, AP Race, confirmed she attended the December wedding. "I got the invite to the wedding and it was the wedding of the century," she declared.

Her enthusiastic review extended to the catering by the bride's father, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. "It was insane, it was Gordon's famous beef wellington, and it was the best, the best wedding food I've ever had," she said, adding she was "up with Adam on the dance floor at the end of the night, busting out the moves."

A Wedding Overshadowed by Family Estrangement

Davies's glowing account stands in stark contrast to the reality for Peaty's family. The swimmer married Holly Ramsay, 26, at Bath Abbey on December 27, with a reception at the exclusive Kin House. However, the day was marred by a deepening rift with his own family.

Peaty's mother, Caroline, was uninvited from the proceedings and was reportedly left "outraged" and "hurt" after Gordon Ramsay made a pointed comment during his father-of-the-bride speech. According to reports, Ramsay told his daughter Holly, "Shame you don't have the same," in a perceived dig at the absent Peaty parents.

A family source told the Daily Mail the remark felt "pre-planned", "cruel", and "very hurtful". Caroline Peaty, 59, who supported her son's swimming career from its earliest days, had previously said she felt as if Holly and Adam "have cut my heart out".

Only Peaty's sister, Beth, who was a bridesmaid, attended from his immediate family. His father, Mark, was reportedly told he could attend but would have to sit "at the back behind the plus-ones".

Ramsays Defend the Celebration

Gordon Ramsay has since defended his speech. Appearing on This Morning with his daughter Tilly, he insisted his words were "perfect and warm". He described the duty as a "tough gig" but said the speech "went well".

Bride Holly Ramsay also backed her father. In an interview with British Vogue, she shared a photo from during the speech, saying she felt "overwhelmed with the love and the happiness on our guests' faces".

In another move that highlighted the family divide, Holly revealed her parents paid for the couple's honeymoon to Mauritius as a wedding present. Adam Peaty is also thought to have changed his social media name to Adam Ramsay Peaty, a significant symbolic gesture regarding his future family ties.

The roots of the conflict are reported to extend back to September 2024, when wider Peaty family members were not invited to the couple's engagement party. Caroline was also absent from Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse.

Despite the very public fallout, Caroline Peaty reportedly still sent her son a card and gift for his 31st birthday. The wedding, celebrated by a star-studded guest list including David and Victoria Beckham, remains a deeply divisive event, with Sara Davies's latest comments serving as a fresh reminder of the painful exclusion felt by the groom's family.
