The cast of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things enjoyed a heartwarming reunion at co-star Maya Hawke's Valentine's Day wedding to singer Christian Lee Hutson. The surprise ceremony took place in New York City on Saturday, bringing together several familiar faces from the beloved show months after its controversial finale aired on New Year's Day.
A Star-Studded Celebration in the Big Apple
According to exclusive pictures obtained by People magazine, actors Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin all braved the cold weather to attend the black-tie wedding. The gathering marked a special moment for the tight-knit ensemble, who had recently wrapped filming on the final season of the 1980s-themed science-fiction phenomenon.
Notable Absences and Family Presence
However, some prominent Stranger Things cast members were notably absent from the festivities. Millie Bobby Brown, Charlie Heaton, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Noah Schnapp, and Jamie Campbell Bower did not attend the wedding celebration. The bride's famous parents, actor Ethan Hawke and actress Uma Thurman, were both in attendance alongside Maya's younger brother, Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke.
Uma Thurman made a stylish appearance in a baby blue dress with matching shoes, while Ethan Hawke donned an all-black suit to walk his daughter down the aisle at St. George's Episcopal Church in Manhattan. The bride herself wore a stunning ruffly white wedding gown complemented by a feathered coat and an old-fashioned veil, while groom Christian Lee Hutson opted for a classic tuxedo for the ceremony.
From Co-Stars to Collaborators
Maya Hawke, who joined Stranger Things during its third season in 2019, played Robin Buckley, the best friend of Joe Keery's character Steve Harrington. Beyond her acting career, Hawke has maintained a parallel music career that ultimately led to her relationship with Hutson. The couple first met as friends and musical collaborators before their romance blossomed.
They have worked together on several projects over the years, including Hawke's two most recent albums: 2024's Chaos Angel and 2022's Moss. In a June 2024 interview on the Zach Sang Show, Hawke enthusiastically praised their relationship foundation, stating: "I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It's the best. They know you, they understand that you are a person and a human being."
Additional Celebrity Guests
The wedding guest list extended beyond the Stranger Things family to include other notable figures from Hawke's career. Sam Nivola, who acted alongside Hawke in the 2023 film Maestro, attended the celebration, as did Kathryn Newton, Hawke's co-star from the 2017 British television adaptation of Little Women.
This joyful gathering comes just weeks after the Stranger Things finale titled "Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up" sparked divided reactions among fans when it dropped on January 1st, following the release of volume one of the final season. The wedding provided a perfect opportunity for cast members to reconnect and celebrate new beginnings after the emotional conclusion of their groundbreaking series.
