Gentry, who had dug into her savings to provide a magical Christmas for her children following a family loss, was overwhelmed. She revealed the singer discreetly placed cash in her hand, saying, "thank you so much for working on Christmas." Gentry only later discovered the amount, which equated to two weeks of her pay.
