Today Show's Taylor Haynes Asked Out Live on Air by Below Deck Star
TV Weather Presenter Asked Out Live on Air

A live television broadcast took an unexpectedly romantic turn on Thursday when Today show weather presenter Taylor Haynes found herself being asked out on a date in front of the nation.

An On-Air Matchmaking Mission

The incident unfolded as Taylor was delivering her weather segment. Veteran host Alison Piotrowski decided to intervene, recalling a 'spark-filled' interaction from the previous day. Taylor had been filming on a luxury yacht where she met Jamie Sayed, a bosun from the popular reality series Below Deck.

"My New Year's resolution is to manifest love for others," Alison declared, before bringing the topic up live on air. Co-host Nick Coatsworth joined in, directly asking Jamie if he had any plans for mischief. The sailor cheekily replied that his main plan had been to 'smuggle' Taylor on board the yacht as a stowaway, but she had declined due to her early work commitment.

The Live Proposal and a Technical Hitch

Seizing the moment, Nick encouraged Jamie to act. "That was 2025, it's now 2026. You've got lots of opportunity," he prompted. Alison then asked Jamie if he had anything to say to Taylor. In a moment of perfect comedic timing, Jamie's audio cut out just as he began to speak, forcing him to repeat his question once the connection was restored.

"I might as well ask Taylor if she'd like to go out for a drink sometime before I head back out to Bali," Jamie said confidently, prompting a chorus of reactions from the studio panel. All eyes then turned to a flustered Taylor for her response.

A Sheepish Acceptance and a Cheeky Slip-Up

With her parents watching, Taylor initially deflected with humour. When the hosts gave their approval for the potential pairing, she tentatively agreed, but not before making a quip that immediately backfired. "I'll start the new year with a bang," she said, before quickly covering her mouth in shock and adding, "Not actually." Alison joked that she could if she wanted, but perhaps not at that time of the morning.

Both Nick and Alison praised the pair for handling the intense spotlight without blushing too much. Finally, Taylor gave a clear answer. "Jamie, I'd love to. It would be my honour – it would be rude not to," she said. Jamie suavely replied, "Let's make it happen," to which Taylor quipped, "We will be live from Jamie's yacht tomorrow."
