Rock legends Deep Purple have announced their 24th studio album, Splat!, set for release on 3 July. Frontman Ian Gillan described the record as a vibrant return to the "dynamics, the balance and the fun" of the band's seminal early 1970s sound, calling it "the heaviest Deep Purple album in many years."
New Album Details
The upcoming album features collaboration with acclaimed producer Bob Ezrin, known for his work with Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper. Gillan expressed enthusiasm for the band's current direction, noting that the new material complements classic tracks like "Highway Star," "Smoke On The Water," and "Lazy." Deep Purple, pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, are celebrated for their enduring legacy, which includes the iconic anthem "Smoke On The Water" from their 1972 album Machine Head.
UK Tour Announcement
Fans can experience the band live on a UK tour later this year. The tour kicks off in Newcastle on 18 November and culminates in London shows at the Eventim Apollo on 24 November and the Royal Albert Hall on 25 November.
Deep Purple continue to cement their status as rock icons with this latest announcement, promising an album that harks back to their classic 1970s rock sound while delivering a fresh, heavy edge.
